Born in
1970 I gew up at the area of Saxon Switzerland
near
Dresden in
East Germany. My childhood was influenced by the
selfless, christian and social works of my grandmother,
the breathtaking mystical landscape of the area and the
cultural and historical wealth of Dresden. My parents
supported art from an very early age on. I admired the
paintings of the Old Masters and
other treasures in the museums of Dresden and attended
drawing classes from the age of 7 on.
Own works were exhibited for the first time in around 1978,
when a linocut work served as the exhibition poster.
In my early youth i started with photography. From 1989 on,
while living in London, one of my interests was in concert
and event photography. Many of the attended music concerts
were photographed, and furthermore I liked the remnants of
victorian atmosphere at Highgate cemetary.
Photographic techniques were perfectioned through
particitipation of classes in portraiture and stilllife and
I enjoyed the cultural and international life in London. An
exhibition about William Blake left a lasting impression. I
also started practicing yoga in London in 1992.
In Paris from 1995 - 1998 video was added as a media. An
enhanced interest in lanscapes came though many trips to
celtic Brittany in the north western edge of France.
Between 1996 - 2005 I concecrated much of my time to
studies of philosophy, consciousness, shamanism and
ethnomedicine.
End of 1998 I first met the visionary artist Alex Grey,
moved back to Germany and in 1999 I participated in the art
festival Burning Man in Nevada, USA and went to India for
the first time in 2001. Following this personal landmarks I
completed a further training in ethnomedicine, met many
outstanding personalities, such as the Dalai Lama and
decided to study art therapy. The university of applied
sciences in Ottersberg (north Germany) offered an
appropriate surrounding and curriculum between 2003 - 2007
to combine social work, to perfect earlier developed
therapeutic skills, scientific research and spiritual
interests in the diploma studies of art therapy and art
eduction. Painting techniques were refined through a
workshop of the Mischtechnique (modern version of the Old
Masters style) with the artists Martina Hoffmann and Robert
Venosa. Another artist example for me is also Max Ernst.
Having fulfilled the adolescent dream of a Leica lens,
photography became again a major part in my artistic
creations from 2007 on again. Since August 2008 l have been
living in Berlin.
